Anthony Saenz, DOM, LAC
Integrative Acupuncturist & Herbalist

Anthony Saenz, also goes by "Tony", is an integrative acupuncturist and herbalist specializing in traditional Chinese medicine, with a focus on phenomena-based diagnosis and integration with conventional medicine. With over a decade of clinical experience, he blends acupuncture, herbal medicine, and Chinese nutrition therapy to provide a patient-centered approach that helps individuals make meaningful, life-changing observations about their health, which informs life-changing actions.

Tony has extensive experience working with our veterans, chronic pain patients, people with addictions, individuals with autoimmune conditions, and ones in emotional distress, offering fresh and effective perspectives on healing. His treatments are deeply rooted in traditional Chinese and Japanese diagnostics while remaining adaptable to modern medical contexts, ensuring a comprehensive and personalized healing experience. He believes in empowering patients to understand their own bodies and the impact of emotional dynamics and guiding them toward long-term wellness, whether through acupuncture, herbal formulas, or an integrated approach that bridges Eastern and Western medicine and partnership with other practitioners.

His formal education includes Master of Acupuncture, then Master and Doctorate degrees in Oriental Medicine from the Maryland Institute of Integrative Health (formerly Tai Sophia Institute). He has trained extensively in Five-Element Acupuncture (Worsley/Lemington Spa tradition) and received mentorship in Japanese Toyohari acupuncture techniques and the pragmatism of Kampo, refining his ability to harmonize traditional and modern treatment strategies.

Beyond his clinical practice, Tony has worked across multiple industries and traveled to 80 countries, working in about 40 of them. With a deep respect for spiritual beliefs and cultural healing practices, he brings a broad, worldly perspective to patient care. He also understands firsthand the impact of medical labels, particularly as a disabled veteran, and seeks to help others overcome the stigma or limitations that come with a diagnosis.

In addition to acupuncture and herbal medicine, he offers microneedling and light therapy aligned with acupuncture principles as complementary services for skin rejuvenation, scar treatment, acne, exertion and injury recovery and overall well-being. However, his primary focus remains on using time-honored diagnostic methods and integrative treatment strategies to help patients regain balance, vitality, and a deeper understanding of their health.

In his free time, Tony enjoys “geeking out” with computer technology, marveling at creative expression, the arts, and the mysteries of life—all of which fuel his curiosity and passion for the healing journey. He also enjoys working in varied skills and trades to make sure he still can and to gain greater appreciation for the diversity of our community.
