Katrina Repka, Clinical Intern

Katrina is a graduate student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, completing her practicum here at DIY Wellness. Before pursuing counseling, she spent over a decade teaching partner dance, where she found deep fulfillment in helping people grow in confidence, connect with others, and discover things about themselves that extended far beyond the dance floor. That experience continues to influence her perspective on personal growth and her interest in the many ways we learn, connect, and make sense of our experiences.

She believes counseling offers an opportunity to slow down, get curious about ourselves, and explore the things that shape how we move through life. Her approach is rooted in compassion, openness, and a genuine respect for each person's individual experience. She recognizes that people are constantly evolving, and that who we are, what we need, and how we experience the world can shift from one moment to the next. To her, meeting people where they are means making room for those changes without judgment and allowing people to show up as they are, even when they are still figuring out what that looks like.

With a particular interest in the mind-body connection, she is drawn to movement, creative expression, and experiential approaches that offer different ways of exploring our inner worlds and connecting with others. She believes there is value in learning to notice and understand what is happening within us, including the thoughts, feelings, and needs that can sometimes be difficult to put into words. She also recognizes that growth isn't always comfortable, and that moving through difficult experiences sometimes means allowing ourselves to sit with the uncertainty and discomfort before we can see a way forward.

Ultimately, she sees counseling as a collaborative process in which people can explore, learn, and find their own way forward. She hopes to help clients recognize their strengths, develop a better understanding of themselves, and discover tools that feel genuinely useful and relevant in the moments and experiences that make up everyday life. Above all, she wants to create a space where people feel supported in navigating life's complexities and empowered to build a more meaningful relationship with themselves and the world around them.
